Coffee granita

Ingredients
- 500 ml freshly brewed, strong black coffee (made with 30 g ground coffee in a cafetière, brewed for 7 mins)
- 80 g sugar
- 100 ml coffee liqueur (e.g., Kahlúa)
- Optional for serving:
- 1 tub mascarpone
- 50 g dark chocolate, grated
Directions
- Pour 500 ml strong black coffee into a jug, stir in 80 g golden caster sugar until dissolved, then add 100 ml coffee liqueur. Let cool completely.
- Once cold, pour the mixture into a freezable container and freeze for 1 hour.
- Remove from the freezer, mix with a fork to break up ice crystals forming at the edges, then return to the freezer for 20 minutes.
- Repeat the mixing process once or twice more until the granita forms clumps of ice.
- Serve in glasses or bowls as a dessert. For a richer version, top with a dollop of mascarpone and a grating of 50 g dark chocolate, if desired.
