Ingredients
- 4 medium apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and chopped into 1/2-inch pieces
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp Ceylon cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional, to prevent browning and add brightness)
Directions
- Peel, core, and chop 4 medium apples into 1/2-inch pieces.
- In a large skillet, melt 2 tbsp unsalted butter over medium heat.
- Add the chopped apples to the skillet, stirring to coat them in butter.
- Sprinkle 3 tbsp granulated sugar and 1 tsp Ceylon cinnamon over the apples.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10-15 minutes, until the apples are tender and golden, and the sugar forms a light syrup.
- Optionally, add 1 tbsp lemon juice during the last minute of cooking for brightness and to prevent browning.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving as a dessert or side dish.
