  1. Slice 3 oranges thinly, then cut slices across the diameter.
  2. Transfer orange slices to a bowl with 4 cups filtered water.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours to soak.
  4. Pour soaked oranges and water into a non-reactive pot.
  5. Cook uncovered on medium to medium-high heat for 30 minutes.
  6. Add 2-3 cups sugar, depending on orange sweetness.
  7. Cook for another 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  8. Cool and store in the refrigerator or can for longer storage.
