  1. Peel and chop 1 large potato and optional small amount of onion into small pieces.
  2. Cook potato and onion in 2 cups milk in a large saucepan or small pot until tender.
  3. Add remaining 1 cup milk and 1 cup half and half; heat slowly.
  4. Stir in 2 Tbsp butter until melted.
  5. Optionally, add a small amount of coconut oil and stir.
  6. Add 2 cups clams with juice.
  7. Cook slowly until flavors blend, about 30-40 minutes or until potatoes are soft.
  8. Season with a pinch of pickling sea salt and serve.
